Progress tab and goal cards

Summary

When you open your portfolio, you land on the 'Collections' page. The second tab is 'Progress'. On this tab you will find all the information about your goals and your progress.

Insight into your goals

On the ‘progress’ tab you can gain insight into your goals (1). You can filter the goals on their status (2). You can also see in how many collections a goal recurs, how much evidence has been added to a goal and how many subgoals a goal has (3). This overview is also available to visitors.

On the three dots (4) you can edit the goal, add sub-goals or delete the goal (if it does not appear in collections). If you expand the goal you can see the underlying sub-goals. You can add new main goals using the button at the top (5).

On the progress page you can also get quick insights into the current state of a set of goals by selecting a template or individual goals (6). This will create a spider diagram.

Upon opening the goal card, you land on the tab ‘overview’ (1). Using the menu (⋮) (2) you can change the name, description and status of the goal. Using the toggle (3) you can view the original goal information (from the template) or the current information of the goal. Furthermore, you can see the goal statistics (4): in which (and how many) collections is this goal added, how much evidence is linked to the goal? As a portfolio owner you can edit the status (5), as a visitor you can only see the status. At the bottom you see the description of the goal (6), either provided from the template and possibly modified by the student.

The 5 tabs provide different types of information:

Overview (1): A summary of the context of a goal with statistics, description and status.

Evidence (7): Which evidence is linked to the goal, and which collections it is in.

Feedback (8): Narrative feedback that is linked or associated with the goal.

Timeline (9): What has "happened" to this goal over time: for example, whether evidence has been added and whether its status has changed.

Growth (10): A graph showing the ratings given at completed progress reviews.

If sub-goals have been added to the goal, they appear on the right side of the goal card 11). You can expand them and view their description. Via the three dots (12) you can change them, remove them or change their order. You can add the sub-goals in several ways.

Feedback tab on the goal card

The feedback tab displays a chronological overview of all feedback received on that goal. In addition, this chronological overview can be filtered by role (student, expert, teacher, coach, external, etc.), type or time.

Feedback and scores from a finished review are automatically added. Students can add other feedback to this overview themselves. In this article you will find how to add feedback to the feedback tab.

Only the portfolio owner and visitors with full access can see the feedback tab. The feedback tab is visible in a snapshot.

Within the goal card, click feedback (1) to go to the feedback tab. If desired, you can filter the feedback (2) by type, date (before or after a certain date) or role. The date (3) indicates when the feedback was given. The overview is sorted by date (last first).

The feedback title (4) is the title of the evidence, collection, or progress review. The distinction between these three contexts is shown with a corresponding icon (cube, folder and magnifying glass, respectively). For feedback related to a subgoal, the name of the subgoal is shown with a gray label (5). Clicking the feedback title will take you to the relevant context. You have to close the goal card first to see the underlying context.

The feedback is labeled with the ‘type’ as well (6): blue for comment (unsolicited feedback), orange for feedback request (requested feedback) and purple for progress review. The yellow marking (7) is created by the student to indicate the relevant section of the feedback. The student can make a note to give additional context to the feedback. For feedback of the progress review type, quantitative feedback is shown along with the rubric scale and the selected level (8).

Feedback can be removed from the feedback view by the portfolio owner (9).

If feedback is modified in the collection or evidence view after it has been linked to the goal, these changes are not reflected in the feedback tab.

Timeline on the goal map

Goals can be added In Portflow to visualize a student's learning goals and progress. The goal timeline helps get a better overview of all events related to a goal.

The goal timeline is a complete and chronological overview of everything that happened related to a goal. Each goal has its own timeline and looks different depending on the events related to the goal.

The left side of the timeline shows all events related to the goal itself, such as the creation date, progress review performed and when the goal's status changed. The right side of the timeline shows all related activities; for example, linking collections, linking evidence, deleting evidence, and adding a new version of evidence.

When the portfolio owner adds/deletes/changes anything to a goal, this activity is displayed on the timeline. The portfolio owner can always view the timelines. Users who have access to the entire portfolio or a collection in which goal(s) are associated can also view these timeline(s).

Goal timeline(s) are not visible in snapshots of the portfolio, showcase, and assessment links.
